Organized on Sunday December 8, 2002, Explorer Post # 062 is
a volunteer Emergency Medical Services (EMS) group of youths
ranged from the ages of 14 to 18. It is there that these
individuals have the opportunity to work with EMS personnel,
such as Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT),
that can teach them all they know and more so that they can
make a difference on the scene of an accident.
They learn to put safety first and become a leader in their
community. The youths that are a part of this great service
have the potential to go on to college to go into the medical
field and be picked with favor because of experience.
All Explorers are first trained in CPR and First Aid, only
with this can they ride on the ambulances with the squad.
Each Explorer has designated night to ride and usually
is on call during a four-hour shift. They hold one meeting
the second to last Sunday of every month, which consists of
a casual business discussion and then a drill. The post was
formed to promote EMS in the community and train those in it
to become a valuable resource to their peers.
